Social Security Number Trace

What is it?
A social security number trace is the identifying information from a credit report. It provides personal data on the applicant such as addresses and dates reported. It does not reveal anything pertaining to the applicant’s credit worthiness and does not require a release.

Why Check?
An IRB social security number trace is a useful search when considering an applicant because it can verify that the applicant has used the number to obtain credit and may also verify aliases the individual may have used.

It provides information on the previous addresses of the applicant over the last seven years and the state the social security number was issued in.

An IRB social security number trace will also notify you if the number has been used to file a death claim or if the number is invalid - indicating possible fraudulent use.
